With ten nursing students, an AIGT in training, a surgical trainee, two pediatrics trainees and two interns, we live up to our name as a training hospital! The pediatric trainees, usually called PTPs (after the pediatric training program), Saffie and Osman have been with us for three months now, but in the coming month they will receive intensive guidance from pediatrician Kathrin from German Doctors.
This time, the Masanga Nursing School sent no fewer than five ladies and five gentlemen our way for their practical internship (see photo). They rotate across the various departments, where they learn a lot and at the same time provide welcome reinforcement. The same applies to the interns from the Netherlands, Raphael from Groningen and Alise from Utrecht. They closely follow our CHOs and doctors in the hospital to learn as much as possible about how healthcare works here in Sierra Leone.
