These two-year-old boys were sent to us by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) at Magburaka Government Hospital with a fractured thigh, as they do not have the facility to help these types of trauma cases. For both of them, the unfortunate accident happened a while ago, which makes it more difficult to get the bones back into the right position. We improvised a scaffolding with wood, ropes and sandbags to put the bones on traction.

It is not fun to be immobilized for a long time, especially for small children. Luckily these guys turned out to be strong! After more than four weeks we were able to release them, much to their delight. The first steps were a little wobbly, but with some practice they will soon be back on their feet and ready to go home.
