When our former well-loved cooks decided to withdraw, the management team took a new approach for the hospital canteen. The canteen is no longer run by LHMC staff, but by an independent caterer: Mrs. Kama Kanu. Most staffers already knew her cooking, as she often prepared food for weddings and other parties in Yele, including some of the hospital parties!
Mrs. Kanu is a great cook and a good manager, and this change has actually improved the canteen service. Before now, the canteen was only open on weekdays for breakfast and lunch. Mrs. Kanu runs the canteen also on Saturdays and provides dinner too. This makes the lives of our staffers, patients and caretakers much easier. She serves tasty Salone foods like pepper soup with cassava, jollof rice, cow meat soup, and, of course, plassas with rice.
Help us make our hospital independent. That can be done in different ways. For example, you can make a one-off donation, authorize us to make a monthly donation or help us in kind. You can read all about it on our pages to donate en help you with.
