This month we had to say goodbye to Suzanne Greup, who completed her specialization in International Health and Tropical Medicine with her internship at LHMC and associated research. Suzanne quickly found her place here in the hospital and felt so much at home in Salone that she decided to continue working for two months longer. Conversely, she also won a place in the hearts of many employees, who will miss her.

Fortunately, we have already received a good successor: Lotte Schoonhoven. In the photo you see Lotte on the left and Suzanne on her right, who passes her not the baton but the large toothbrush. The toothbrush and teeth symbolize the community outreach, largely organized by the AIGT in training. Lotte would like to introduce herself to you in this way.

'My name is Lotte Schoonhoven and I will be working at Lion Heart for the next 6 months as the final part of my specialization in International Health and Tropical Medicine. I look forward to everything I will learn and experience here. Since my arrival 3 weeks ago, I have been very warmly welcomed by the Lion Heart family. During my medical studies I had the opportunity to do an internship in Ghana, and I am very happy to be back in West Africa to enjoy the environment, the friendly people and the delicious food, but also to experience new things. experience and learn about the culture and daily life in Sierra Leone.

I was very happy to be assigned to Lion Heart for my internship because it is a small-scale hospital where I get the opportunity to work in all the different departments and can therefore see many different pathologies. Pregnant women and newborn babies have a special place in my heart and will also partly form my focus area in my work here. I have learned a lot since I arrived here and with the help of all the tips and tricks my predecessor Suzanne has given me, I am sure I will have a great time here. I will do my utmost to be a good successor to her!'
