In our warehouse, it turned out that there were several boxes with previously donated gauze, bandages and other wound care products. Our employees did not know what to do with these donations because they were all from different brands and with different applications. Until now, all wounds in our hospital were treated in the same way. Volunteer nurse Begona has been working hard over the past few weeks to sort out the items and devise a new method of wound care. Our nurses are now learning from her how to classify the wounds into one of three categories – from clean to highly infected – and which treatment fits that category. She has also redesigned the treatment room so that the right items are easy to find and use. This way we can take better care of our patients and the wounds heal faster!
