This month there will be two important “changing of the guards”. First, our chief nurse and management team member Amara Musa left us. He has started training as a Community Health Officer (CHO) at Njalla University and has handed over his leadership baton to Mariama Kamara. Mariama Kamara has worked as a nurse at Lion Heart in the past. Now that she has completed her training as a “State Registered Nurse (SRN)” with a scholarship from Lion Heart Medical Center, she will start working in Lion Heart as a nurse head/matron. She also becomes the first female local staff in the management team. At the same time, we say goodbye to Dr. Louise, who will return to the Netherlands, and we welcome her successor, Dr. Barbara. Doctor Barbara, like Louise and Heleen, is a Doctor of International Healthcare and Tropical Medicine and starts her first job in Lion Heart after her registration as a specialist. Welcome Mariama and Barbara.
