Spread the love

The team at our children’s ward (pediatric ward) has donated new and colourful bed sheets to the ward, in an act of kindness and commitment to improve the comfort and care of our young patients. This generous initiative was facilitated by our former nurse in-charge, Esther Jamiru, before she left LHMC to pursue further studies.

To further improve the ward, our dedicated Paediatric Clinical Officer (PCO) Fatmata donated an electric kettle to support the feeding of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). This thoughtful donation will help make the feeding process more convenient and supportive for our vulnerable children.

We sincerely appreciate Esther, Fatmata and the entire Paediatric Ward Team for their kindness, dedication and compassion. We are very proud to have staff working in the hospital that take initiative to contribute personally to provide the little things that can make a big difference!

National Child Health Program

More news from the pediatric ward: a team from the Directorate of Reproductive and Child Health of the Ministry of Health came to visit LHMC. The aim was to assess child mortality trends and review the hospital’s systems for documenting and reporting cases of our youngest patients that have sadly resulted in death. This is part of a countrywide programme, the National Child Health Program, that awarded LHMC last year for its efforts in reducing child mortality.

During the visit, the team met with the hospital’s leadership (Dr. Elijah, Medical Superintendent and Mr. Yankuba, Hospital Manager) and toured the ward, where they thoroughly reviewed relevant documentation. Also, the team examined the quality and availability of essential medical services for children and discussed with staffers the challenges and opportunities in delivering quality care to children. LHMC appreciates the efforts of the Directorate of Reproductive and Child Health and looks forward to implementing relevant recommendations.
