On 26 September 2026, 35-year-old Morison sustained serious injuries to the upper part of his left leg in a motorbike accident in Bo. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Bo, where he began receiving medical treatment. However, after three days, he decided to seek further care at Lion Heart Medical Centre, citing poor prognosis and dissatisfaction with the treatment he had received at the previous facility.
Upon arriving at LHMC, Morison underwent incision and drainage (I&D) and debridement procedures in the operation theatre to address his injuries – to drain pus, to relieve pressure and to remove damaged and infected tissue. The medical staff performed these procedures to clear away barriers that block healing, prevent bacterial growth, and expose healthy tissue so the body can repair itself. Since the procedure, his condition has improved significantly, offering renewed hope for complete recovery. At the time of writing, his wounds are healing quickly and we expect that he will be able to return home within a few days time!
His experience highlights the importance of timely medical attention and the administration of appropriate medical care in managing serious injuries. It also underscores the role of the Lion Heart Medical Centre in providing healthcare services to patients from rural communities and beyond. LHMC remains committed to providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare to individuals and families in Tonkolili District, Bo District, and Sierra Leone at large.
