Our clinical team received a lot of emergency cases, including young children suffering from serious malaria and women in obstructed labour. Almost all of these cases were in need of blood transfusions. In the first picture, you can see one relative donating blood, laying in one of the new blood donation chairs. These chairs were donated by Sanquin, a nationwide blood bank in the Netherlands, for which we are grateful.
We already make good use of the items that we have received with the international container. The monitors, funded by the ‘Act fast, Save lives’ crowdfunding, have been divided over the wards. In the second picture, you can see our Maternity nurses Josephine & Janet using a monitor to check the vitals of a patient. In the Labor Room, the fetal Doppler is playing an important role to continuously monitor fetal heart rate. And in the operation theatre, our doctors make use of newly arrived surgical instruments.
