Together with our partner Delft Imaging we have started a new scientific study. The Baby Checker is an AI-enabled, mobile based ultrasound scan developed by Delft Imaging with the aim to make pregnancies safer by bringing basic ultrasounds to women in low recourse settings. Several health clinics surrounding LHMC have been testing this AI ultrasound solution. Together with research in other countries, it has shown that the Baby Checker can be easily used by any frontline health worker with access to a smartphone, without specific training.
This new study is aimed to compare the results of 500 BabyChecker handheld ultrasound scans with the results of the standard ultrasound scan made in LHMC. Medical officers at LHMC will be comparing parameters such as gestational age, amniotic fluid, placenta localization etc. The aim is to assess and improve the performance of the Baby Checker.
