Meet Magret Saffa, a 70 year old patient at LHMC. In February, she was referred from Kenema Government Hospital to our hospital. She had been involved in a road traffic accident which led to a severe injury at the ankle: a dislocated ankle fracture.
After a long journey, she was warmly welcomed in LHMC and admitted to Female Ward. The next morning our medical team did lab investigations and took her to the Operating Theatre. There, reposition of ankle fracture wasdone, and padding and POP applied. An X-Ray confirmed that the procedure was successful with the ankle now in the correct position. Thanks to our esteemed surgical team for this wonderful work.
Margret Saffa is recovering gradually and carefully moving around. The wounds from the traffic accident were cleaned daily, and have been healing well. She was able to move from the ward to the patient waiting house, just next to the hospital. Here, she can enjoy more comfort and privacy while waiting for the 6 weeks time – the minimal amount of time the ankle fracture needs to heal – before discharge.
When asked about how she feels about coming to the Lion Heart Medical Centre and about using the patient waiting house, she said she feels happy coming to LHMC because she knows the hospital is delivering when it comes to quality patient services. Also she feels very comfortable staying in her own room at the patient waiting house.
