In the past month we welcomed two new employees to Yele. Due to the departure of surgical student Asanatu and our community health officer Sheku, we were desperately looking for a replacement. CapaCare, the surgical assistant training program, sent us Mohamed Jorkie (pictured right), a first-year student, who will spend six months of his training with us. During his internship, doctors Louise and Heleen and surgical officer Mohamed Bangura will teach him to operate on inguinal hernias and perform caesarean sections. Of course Jorkie will also help in the services and when seeing patients at the outpatient clinic. Replacing Sheku, John Koroma (pictured left) was hired as the new community health officer. John, who already had work experience in Masanga Hospital, will work in the different departments of the hospital and also in the services. We look forward to working with John and Mohamed.
